What Are Dental Veneers?
Dental veneers are actually thin shells of porcelain or composite material that are applied to the front surface of your teeth. They improve the appearance of your smile and help protect your teeth from further damage. These restorations are considered aesthetic and are typically not covered by dental insurance plans. However, we offer payment plans to fit your needs, making veneers attainable for most of our patients who visit our practice.
Why Might I Consider Veneers?
Both porcelain and composite veneers can be used to correct a variety of problems, such as stained, chipped, misaligned, or irregularly shaped teeth. Veneers also provide protection against decay and other tooth-related issues, though they are more aesthetic than restorative.
How Long Does It Take To Get Porcelain Veneers?
The placement of veneers is typically done in two visits for porcelain restorations. One visit is used for taking impressions after preparing the teeth, and then the second visit is to place the finished veneer onto the tooth. For composite veneers, only one appointment is needed, during which the tooth is prepared, and the composite resin material is placed onto the tooth. Once set, porcelain veneers should last up to 10 years with proper care, while composite resin veneers will last just a few years as they are more susceptible to staining.
